About Us

L’Institut français d’Oak Park offers professionally taught, accessible French courses for beginning, intermediate, and advanced adult and mature teen learners of French. L'Institut provides all levels of conversation courses, grammar and composition courses, and French and Francophone literature and culture courses.

Through classes, weekly conversation cafés, and other French and Francophone cultural events, l’Institut helps build and connect the French-speaking community in the near-west suburbs of Chicago and beyond. This community has expanded nationally and internationally with the addition of online course offerings and virtual conversation cafés. Through its programs, l’Institut creates a heightened awareness of how speaking French opens the door to a rich variety of cultures around the world.

We currently offer both in-person and online classes and events. L’Institut français will follow all CDC, state, and local guidelines for masking for in-person classes and events. Classes that are currently listed as in-person may move online if our community experiences substantial or high transmission rates.
